I've been writing on line dollmaking classes and am currently teaching "The Harpy" at Doll Street, an on line doll club that I've been a member of for going on ten years. For those not familiar, a Harpy is a mythological hybrid creature, half woman, half vulture and usually pretty ticked off at the world. This particular project has the woman made of cloth and the vulture sculpted with a clay called Apoxie Sculpt. I’ve just revised an old on line class for a fairy that will be combined with a brand new wing class with a variety of techniques and styles. Coming up I have several teaching events at doll conferences, a quilt conference and doll clubs including Canada, Washington and Virginia. I just accepted the position of co-chair at a New Mexico conference that I have been involved with for 10 years now. When I’m lucky I still find time to design a new doll and or pattern. There is a conference this year in Columbus – I’ll be teaching there but am thrilled not to have to spend a day traveling to and from this one! I’m looking forward to spring. We have more than a hundred tulips in the cottage garden at the north side of the house and now that the house raising and it’s after projects are done the ground is leveled and mulched and waiting for perennials and veggies. It’ll be good to have out own fresh goodies to munch on again! Craig is hoping to learn about gardening and join me so this will be fun – to finally garden together! In the past he has tilled and I’ve planted and the weeding… well… around August it hasn’t been too pretty. As a team it should be easier because we will motivate each other to keep the garden lovely. | | The current project for me has been the kitchen remodel. Our kitchen was old when we moved in over 15 years ago. I have replaced the floor, repaired the walls, and am waiting on the new cabinets. I continue to work in my spare time doing computer support. This keeps me on my toes trying to stay current with the latest operating systems and applications. The county has been widening our road to carry the additional traffic from the township's rapid growth. I have been trying to keep our front yard looking nice through the ordeal. Hopefully the will be complete this spring. April 1, 2007 The kitchen remodel is coming along. The cabinets have been delivered and are being installed. The new dishwasher has been ordered. Parts of the counter top have been fitted to the walls and the sink is being installed. I have installed under the cabinet lighting. Later this week I hope done with the big stuff and to start on the detail and finish work. Judy has been very patient with the hole affair as the kitchen has been torn up for 3 months now April 9, 2007 The kitchen is complete. Click on the thumbnail for a larger picture. |
