Normally many of our harvest party activities are held outside, but this year the weather brought stiff winds, drizzle, and temperatures hovering in the low 40's, so we moved any activities we could inside the barn.
The sack and three legged racers circled the dinner tables set up in the center of the downstairs. Winners were determined partially by crossing the finish line and more so by who hadn't received a prize. All participants received prizes by the end of the evening
The egg toss was particularly interesting inside the barn. Needless to say, I received a number of questioning looks when I announced the commencement of this activity. There may still be egg dripping off the walls and ceiling to this day.
Dinner was wonderful with many culinary delicious prepared. Few guests braved the elements to cook over the fire and my thanks go out to Willy for roasting the "dogs" on the grill for everyone.
Bobbing for apples is still a very popular activity with many of the young people planning new ways to retrieve that apple without getting wet. Some have better luck that others.
This year's piñata (beautifully constructed by my wife, Judy) was a large spider. It took a serious beating before releasing it's charms to an anxious hoard of scavenges attackers.
Additionally we made an attempt at dancing The Virginia Reel (Many thanks to those on the web who helped me find a recording of the reel) and had a beautiful bon fire. Sadly, I didn't get pictures of either event as I was too involved in orchestrating and participating in both.
