As
a child I was fascinated by the Dodo Bird. My father teased me about the bird,
stating the Dodo was extinct because he was in fact a true Dodo, defined by my
father as a numbskull, or idiot, incapable of the intelligence required to exist
and simply stated: ridiculous.
I came to realize in life, we as human beings
from time to time behave irrationally, and make decisions that might make us
appear far less intelligent than we truly are. This occurs more frequently in
some than others, and based on a single act or an appearance we may become
stereotyped as a “Dodo.”
My character portrayed here is a man of high
standing and superior intellect. His status in the world afforded him his
spectacular clothing and the means for the opportunity to travel on a quest to
seek the fantastic Dodo Bird. He rides this bird quite pleased with himself,
satisfied that he has once again set a spectacular goal in his life and achieved
it. What he does not realize is that perched upon his own head is a small bird,
which set out with the same quest and who has succeeded. The question is: which
is the Dodo?
