Allow
me to present “Lady Hoffman Buys a Hat,” pictured left. She was created for
the 2000 Hoffman Challenge and
won 1st place and President's Choice awards at the Ohio State Fair 2002.
She is 20 inches tall, and I created her by
starting with a wire skeleton that pivots at the hips then wrapping her with batting to add muscles and body
curves. She has individual fingers that are wired and able to be posed, as well
as bloomers and underskirts that have wonderful laces beneath the skirt. I made
her shoes from suede and leather and they have real laces that tie.
For my non-doll making friends,
“Hoffman” is a fabric company. Each year they choose a fabric and challenge
folks to create with it dolls, Quilts and clothing. That year there were 83 doll
entries.
You may know, as everyone in her small town, that
Mayor Hoffman’s wife loves flowers and gardens with such a passion that every
dress she owns is covered in floral garden prints, however, only her closest
friends know that privately, Lady Hoffman adores trying on and buying
extravagant hats.
This doll is available. |
