GILBERT THE GAME KEEPER |

and Bear Show 2003, as well as Best of Class. |

Festive birds
clothed in radiant color
Led Gilbert the Keeper to love no other
By day he trained each little friend
To carry a message the king would send
He worked for the king in a far away land
Wanting to be a bird much more than a man
He dressed in their colors of red, orange and blue
Hatched eggs on his head when the wind blew
He slept with his friends in a giant nest
And would tell you he thought his life was the best.
Till one day when the good king sent along
A sweet little lady with a new song.
She spoke to the birds and at once she knew
That Gilbert the Keeper loved the birds too.
She taught him to cackle and then to coo
He taught her how each sweet bird flew
They nested and rested together each night
And lived with the birds for a perfect life.
So if you meet strangers in unusual dress
Or you think that their hair is a mess of a nest
Don’t judge them as so many folks would do
They could be happier in life than you. |
